Cape Escape: The Art of Ed Lewandowski

Meet the Artist

Ed Lewandowski’s journey into painting began unexpectedly during a sleepless night in December 2020. Inspired by the iconic Bob Ross and fueled by curiosity, he picked up brushes and paints from his daughter’s craft closet—and never looked back. What started as a few “happy little trees” quickly evolved into a passion for capturing landscapes with depth, emotion, and light.

Through self-guided study and participation in local art communities, Ed honed his craft, earning accolades for his work. Today, he is a featured artist at Gallery One in Ocean View, DE and co-organizes Paint Laurel Plein Air, fostering artistic expression in his home state.

About the Biden Environmental Center Exhibit: Cape Escape

“Cape Escape” is a stunning collection of 15 original oil paintings on gessobord, celebrating the landscapes, history, and outdoor experiences of Cape Henlopen State Park. From the windswept dunes to the historic observation towers, each piece captures the essence of this beloved coastal destination.

The exhibit is on display through fall 2025 at the newly renovated Biden Environmental Center in Cape Henlopen State Park. As part of the exhibit, half of the exhibit artwork sales will support the O’Neill Environmental Education Endowment Fund at the Delaware Community Foundation, which helps Delaware students connect with nature through educational programs.
